STIHL Brazil is being proactive in pursuing its sustainability goals with innovative measures. Under the leadership of Rafael Szabo, Infrastructure Manager, the focus is on minimizing energy waste and maximizing efficiency.
Energy consumption – of electricity, natural gas and water – is broken down by department at the Brazilian plant. The goal is to make use of this information for optimizing processes and reducing waste. Supervisor Lucas Brandalise emphasizes the importance of understanding the base load data to identify potential for improvement, especially on non-productive days.
BEING PROACTIVE
As a proactive measure, the site has implemented “lockout/tagout routes” that enable the monitoring team to detect energy waste during inspections and immediately report the results so that action can be taken quickly. This has already resulted in the repair of more than 150 compressed air leaks, with significant cost savings. Continued efforts are expected to achieve annual savings of over one million real (approximately 170,000 euros as at July 2024).
The message is clear: Every action counts. STIHL Brazil hopes that promotion of a sustainability culture will not only bring internal benefits, but also have a positive impact on the environment in general.
